TAGHUM BLUFF TRAIL

A short, easy trail with great views from the bluff above Taghum. Views are of Nelson, Taghum, and the Kootenay River. Since this trail was first described, it has become overgrown and “invisible”.

Distance. 830 m one way
Time: 1 hour

Drive:
From Nelson, head west on Highway 3A and turn right onto Beasley Road before you reach the Beasley Fire Department.
0.0 km Beasley Road. Access at the start is the same as for the Small Wood and Big Wood Trails.
0.25km Turn right on Queen Victoria Road which turns into Smallwood Creek FSR.
2.8 km. Junction. Left is Garrity Forest Service Road at the parking are for the Small Wood and Big Wood trails. Keep straight.
4.4 km. Cross Small Wood Creek.
4.6 km. Turn right onto Sproule Creek Forest Service Road.
8.5 km. Park. Trailhead shown by a small white sign and orange and yellow flagging (no longer present)

Trail: Drop 160 m over 830 m to the bluff. In 2026, there was no sign of the sign or flagging tape and the clearcut was totally overgrown. Trails were all animal trails that faded out.
