AARON HILL

AARON HIL  1503m, 4931′
Aaron Hill is the highest point of land between Grassy Mountain and Castlegar, at about 1,640m (same height as Rossland’s Red Mountain). This has only been done as a snowshoe trip – there is no avalanche hazard along the way. There are views of the Rossland range, Airy Mtn and the Valhallas.

Rating: B2
Elevation gain/loss: gain 200 m, lose 1000 m
Distance: 9 km
Time: 6 hours

Drive. Do a car drop on McPhee road near the Castlegar golf course and then drive on Highway 3 to the Bombi summit.
0.0. Turn left (north) onto Munsen FSR
3.4 km. Turn left onto Little McPhee Creek FSR. Continue about 3 km to the trail head below Aaron Hill.

Route: It is about a 1 km bushwhack with a 200 m elevation gain to the summit.
Return to the old McPhee FSR and walk about 8 km as it winds its way through the Little McPhee Creek drainage basin, dropping about 1,000 m to the car drop.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
