SQUEELER TRAIL

Located in West Arm Provincial Park, the Squeeler trail is a hike in a lovely forest with a few views of the lake. Huckleberries are good in season.

Distance: 3.7 km
Time: 1.5-2 hours

Drive: To reach the trailhead, follow the

Great-Northern Trail or the Svoboda Road. Don’t drive to the trailhead marked on All Trails. There is no parking and the road is very narrow. Park at the parking lot on the right at the bottom of the road and follow Google Maps.

Take Elwyn Street in Nelson past Shambhala Music Hall where it turns into a gravel road. Park at Great Northern Trail on Svoboda Road.

Trail: To walk easier trails, walk up Svoboda Road about 1km, and turn right up the Squeeler trail through the woods to the Frog Jam. It has several switchbacks. A moderate forested and shaded trail that is not well marked. There are many criss-crossing trails. There are lots of ups and downs with many switchbacks on the upper half. If you go counterclockwise and hit the bridge you’ve gone too far and need to backtrack.
Combine it with the Svoboda loop. Use the Trail Forks app to avoid the Black Diamond trails.
