CEDAR CREEK / LOON LAKE

It is colourful: yellow skunk cabbage, rusty brown mining artifacts, black bears, green vegetation anomalies, white snow and blue skies. A historical/geological adventure.

Difficulty: easy to moderate.
Time: 4 hours.

Drive. Meet in front of the bakery at the Kootenay Lake ferry landing in Balfour

Trail. If the water in Cedar Creek is low, we will visit the 1893 bullwheel from the Highland silver/lead/zinc mine – this can add 1.5 hours to the trip and requires crossing Cedar Creek by wading or butt-cracking on a log.

About admin

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
