ABOUT

I like to think of myself as a full-time traveller. I retired in 2006 at age 53 with a dream to see the world. Now over eighteen years later, I have lived that dream. I have almost finished seeing all 193 United Nations countries in the world. I believe I am the most travelled Canadian of all time.
Traveling for several months per year is demanding and I go home to relax, organize my life, and explore North America. It is my vacation. In January 2020, I finished 2 years of driving a camper van around Europe and Western Asia. In June 2023, I finished 53/54 countries in Africa and in January 2024, after 16 months of hard travel, I returned home from the Southwest Pacific having reached 189/193. My last four – St Vincents & the Grenadines, Equatorial Guinea, Yemen and Tuvalu are planned for April/May 2024. Follow the story. See My Travel Style.

My passions are walking, sea kayaking, and diving – they allow me to have intimate experiences exploring almost anywhere. Hopefully, this website will give you some ideas of places to go and things to do.

The Ideas page is about my many random thoughts.

Writing Hiking & Climbing the West Kootenay has fulfilled a dream I’ve had for two decades. It is a work in progress.
