Map: USGS Eastport

Drive: Access by road to these mountains is good – perhaps too good. The primary approach is from US-2 in the south and US-95 and ID-1 along the range’s western edge. In addition, US-95 cuts across the range’s northwest corner, and the Moyie River Road and the Deer Creek Road (both major secondary roads) cut through central sections of the range from north to south.
FST-211, Moyie River Road. FS-211 is accessed from US-2, 10 miles from Bonners Ferry. Turn north off US-2 on the first road west of the Moyie River bridge. This good gravel road runs north along the river for 20 miles to a junction with US-95 just south of the Canadian Border.

Trail/Route: Either:
1. FST-152, Queen Mountain Trail. This trail leaves FS-211 at Twin Bridges and climbs to the summit of Queens Mountain in 3.5 miles, and then continues on to the summit of Bussard Mountain in another 1.2 miles. Or
2. FS-2542. IntersectsFST-152 1.0 mile below the summit.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
