COMAPLIX MOUNTAIN TRAIL

COMAPLIX MOUNTAIN TRAIL    2438m   (8000′)
North of Galena Bay on Hwy 31 to Beaton and northeast up the Incomeppleux River.

Drive: Left is Hwy 23 that goes down to the ferry to cross Upper Arrow Lakes to Shelter Bay. Continue right on Hwy 31, NE for 10 km. Turn left towards Beaton. Hwy 31 continues SE to Trout Lake.
Follow the Incomappleux River Road
which flows into Beaton Arm towards Camborne.
0.0 Turn off Hwy #31 on Beaton Road (NW of Trout Lake and NE of the Galena Bay ferry, the fastest way here from Nelson) and pass through Beaton & Camborne (south of Pool Creek)
A 2005 rockslide covers the Incomappleux Forest Service Road through Incomappleux Canyon between Camborne and Beaton. This has stopped all logging and power projects.

If one were able to pass the rockfall, these are the distances:
12 km. Right is an
inactive road up Pool Creek. Stay on the main road.
13 km. Camborne
15 km. Road forks – mainline continues north on the east side of the river. Stay left for Incomplix Mt. The road switchbacks up the east slopes of Comaplix Mt.
19 km.
Turn left to the upper end of the Scott Creek logging road and the trail.

Trail: The start of the Complix Mountain Trail is shown on the topographical map 82K/13 Camborne.
A 9 km moderate to difficult trail leads to Comaplix Mt. From the top is a very good view, including a large cirque basin and associated glacial features.

Mainline distances from Beaton (on the east side of the Incomappleux River)
28 km. Turn right for Boyd Creek
30.2 km Kellie Ck. bridge (in 2004, any vehicle)
41 km Battle Brook. Enters Incomappleux River 9 km south of the Park Boundary.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
