JOHN FENGER MEMORIAL TRAIL

This short, but lovely 1 kilometre long trail wanders through cathedrals of huge red cedars. There are few groves of these giants in the Lardeau Valley and this site is the prime example. Watch for wild ginger and trillium in the spring. Include this on your visit to the spawning grounds of the giant rainbow trout at Gerrard in May.
It was designated and constructed in memory of John Fenger, a forester for Kootenay Forest Products.

Difficulty: Very easy A1
Elevation gain: Negligible
Distance: 1km
Time: 1 hour
Season: All year around
Access: Moderate – on highway but long distance from anywhere
Map: 82K/11 Trout Lake

Drive: From Meadow Creek, 42kms (26mi) north on the Lardeau River. On left (west) side of road.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
