LITTLE McPHEE CREEK WATERFALL

An easy trail off the Skattebo Reach trail that goes to a pretty waterfall.

Difficulty: Easy A1
Elevation gained: 20m
Distance: 2.3km from Substation to waterfall
Season: potentially year-round (be aware of extremely hazardous conditions that may arise in winter due to melt-freeze cycles).

Drive: Park at any of the three trailheads that access the Skattebo Reach Trail (Park & Pool, Brilliant Substation or Castlegar Golf Course).

Trail: This very short trail leaves Skattebo Reach Trail between the McPhee Canyon and D. Waterline trailheads, 2.25kms from the substation and 4.5kms from the Park & Pool. It follows the original Doukhobor workers’ trail from Brilliant Dam and passes the Brilliant Overlook and Doukhobor Waterline trailheads. The trail drops into the creek bed, which is followed upstream for a short distance. A short extension of the trail ends at the plunge pool of the scenic waterfall. The waterfall is best in spring and early summer when water run-off is high; later in the season the creek flow is significantly reduced.

Dog and bike friendly.
Faciltiies: Pit toilet at Skattebo Reach/McPhee Canyon junction.

About admin

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
