OOTISCHENIA RADIO TOWER

This new radio tower above Ootischenia overlooks the Columbia River valley. Views are great. There is lots of deadfall, so it is best to wait for good snow depth and use snowshoes. 

Difficulty: C2
Distance: 6.5 km one way
Elevation gain: +675 m
Time: 7 hours round trip

Drive. Meet at the entrance gate to the Castlegar golf course and carpool on McPhee Creek FSR for about 2 km and park.

Route/Trail.
4.5 km on the McPhee FSR to where it meets the Telus tower ridge.
5.5 km. Walk along the powerline in a southerly direction for 1-1.5 km.
6.5 km 500 m bushwhack in the forest, marked with flagging tape.
UTM coordinates of the tower: 11N 457275.95 E 5462295.24 N
