WHITEWATER SNOWSHOE TRAILS

Whitewater Ski Resort maintains a network of multi-purpose winter trails for snowshoeing, skiing, fat biking, and dog walking.

Difficulty: A1 easy
Distance: round trip: 3.6km
Elevation: +100m
Season: mid-December to early April

Drive. From Nelson, drive 13 km south on Highway 6 and turn left onto Whitewater Ski Road. Continue 10km up the road and park in the Nordic Center parking lot at the ski resort.
Whitewater wants you to check in at the lodge and pick up a pass.

Trails. The main loop is a groomed trail that is compact enough to walk on without snowshoes. Side trails branch off for snowshoes.
The trails descend until they near the Hummingbird Pass backcountry area. The lower trails cross Apex Creek twice.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
