BRIDAL LAKE TRAIL

A short loop trail that navigates around this small, shallow, high-altitude lake. Whether a summer hike or a winter snowshoe, it is a family friendly outing.

Location: Bridal Lake is the lovely lake at the summit of Kootenay Pass
Difficulty: very easy A1
Elevation Gain: 10m
Distance: 500m
Time: 30 minute loop
Season: All year around
Access: Excellent on major highway open all year around.
Map: 82F/2
Drive: Kootenay Pass is the summit of Highway 3 between Salmo and Creston

Route/Trail: Start from the small parking area beside the lake on the north side of the highway. Pass the day-use cabin on the west side of the lake. Unfortunately, it is not a full loop as the highway forms the south side of the lake.
What to Do: As it is very shallow, swimming is not worthwhile. Bridal Lake cabin is open to the public year-round and has a fireplace, firewood and picnic tables.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
