UKRAINE – Donbass (Donetsk, Luhansk)

It was not possible to visit this area of Ukraine in 2019. A Russian visa was required but would not be granted except under special circumstances (but especially not to citizens of the European Union).
The areas of Donetsk and Luhansk would be dangerous at best as they are the main centres of the occupation by Russian forces.
I thought of going to Mariupol which is remote from the fighting and on the Black Sea but it was a long drive out of the way and had not much special to see. I was also uncertain if I could go without a visa anyway.
