MOUNT KELLY (Beaver Lookout) & MT STOTT

MT KELLY (Beaver Lookout)   1956m   6417′
A peak overlooking the Beaver Valley.

Difficulty: B1, C1 with the optional secondary summit.
Elevation: 700 m + 150 m for the secondary summit
Distance: 6 km + 1 km for the secondary summit.

Drive. The original drive was: From Salmo (3-3B junction) 1.5km. Hwy 3B, turn right onto Query Creek Road. Drive about 10km. Stay right at Doubtful Creek Spur. Rough 4WD road to the summit and the lookout. Can drive less for more exercise.
The road access has changed since last year due to new logging activity in the area. The new logging roads are seasonal and deeply rutted in places so high clearance (4wd optional) vehicles are indicated. There is limited parking at the trailhead. The trailhead is about 4.5 Km from the junction of Highway 3 and Archibald Road. (across the highway from the Meadows area)
There isn’t any parking close to the highway so only vehicles driving to the trailhead should go to Archibald Rd.

Trail/Route. Hike up the Mt Kelly spur road. The NE ridge makes for a nice loop hike but may be too snowy.

STOTT PEAK   1846m   6056′
5 km south of Mt Kelly. Has a good ATV track to the top on the NS ridge. Good views.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
