28.2km Cross the cement bridge over Davis Creek. Park on the right (east) side of the highway, immediately north of the bridge 570m (1870′).
Trail: The trail departs the west side of the highway, immediately north of the Davis Creek bridge. The first very steep half of this hike gains 475 m in 1.8 km. Reach a junction on the rim at 1000 m. Right goes 30 m to a viewpoint of Duncan Lake, the 3072 m Four Squatters, the Purcell Mountains and Mount Brennan. To the left is the main trail that continues to climb.
20 minutes from the rim, enter an old-growth forest of hemlock, larches and pine and finally at 3.5 km, a grove of old-growth cedars, the Jack Ross Grove. Its centrepiece is a magnificent group of five ancient cedars. Others are nearby. Continue on the trail for 10 minutes to end at Fishhook Lake, at 2.6km, 1238m (4060′).
