KAMAKASI PEAK

KAMAKASI  8000′
Kamakasi occupies a 5 km-long ridge parallel to and south of the long ridge containing most of the high mountains of the range: Palisades, almost 3km to the NE and Airy, 6 km to the NNE.  There is a hut on the north side.

Difficulty: C2
Elevation gain: 2400′
Key elevations: Park  Summit 8000′
Distance:
Time: 3 hours up.
Map: 82F/5 Castlegar

Drive: From the junction of Broadwater Road in Robson and Pass Creek Road, turn north and drive 9.8 km to Norns FSR.
0.0. Drive on Norns Road for 11km to just past a cement bridge. This road is deactivated further on.
10km. Go straight on West Ladybird FSR. The right goes to Norns FSR. (a potential route?)
15km. Turn right heading north.
25km Park at the road’s end at 5700 feet SE of the SW ridge of the summit.

Route: Cross the creek, then bushwhack through a clearcut (in 1990 – I imagine it has grown since then) to alpine timber and onto a ridge. Flagging was placed. There are many ways to access the ridge and there are as many routes as people on the trip from here.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
