World’s Largest Cities

This is a controversial category as the boundaries of many cities are difficult to determine. There are actually seven different lists depending on how the area of a “city” is determined. Is it the formal municipal boundaries or the general area? This list uses the urban area, that is, the continuously built-up landmass of urban development that is within a labor market. Obviously over time the actual population changes. (in millions). I am surprised that Chongqing, China is not on the list as its urban area has 33 million people making it the second biggest city in the world.

About admin

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
